Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my Blog.  On this site is basically a compilation of my work from the last 4 years of my high school writing career.  I feel that each of these pieces are each a chapter of my writing career.  The beginning of my adventure starts in freshman year.  Armed with only my passion for reading I attempted to write something worth while.  Admittedly, at the time, I felt that the piece that I wrote was the result of a great writing career.  Unfortunately this was only the beginning of this adventure.  Now I know, that it was, without a doubt not perfect, in fact it was horribly flawed.  So Sophomore year came around.  In an adventure story, this would be about the time that I face the first boss monster, the one that gives me a view of reality, the one I can't beat, at least not yet.  This monster came in the form of a good friend and my English teacher.  Throughout freshman year, my teacher was rather lenient and my friend just wasn't interested, Sophomore year changed that.  My friend was actually in my class, so he started to pay more attention to my writing, and my teacher would require that we read our pieces out loud to him.  This gave me perspective.  My friend was a rather harsh critic, citing my various failures as a writer and the reading of my pieces showed me my many flaws.  This gave me a chance to improve though, throughout the year I tried to learn from my mistakes.  I worked on my many grammatical errors, although there are plenty that I need to fix, and I added more to my characters.  As Junior year came around I felt almost unmotivated.  I wanted to have fun yet, I wanted to get my pieces perfect.  This period of rather productivity came to end once we were given prompts to write about.  My mind seemed to explode with creative energy.  These prompts were just to write about a random picture we were gotten.  They weren't meant to be serious and this was the real reason that my mind got working.  I didn't have to conference this prompt piece, I didn't have to show it to all of my friends and my teacher.  This inspired me to write the piece that is now listed in my Junior's section.  This one took a while to develop and quite a few conferences and a lot of changes.  I started to realize what it takes to become a real writer. This would definitive be the second time that I face the monster that I lost to.  Through a mixture of training, effort, and pure luck I beat this beast, just barely though.  Through some more work, I tried my best to work on this piece some more.  Although I don't think that the sequel got any where because I just got bored.  Senior started with me feeling successful, feeling like a hero after his fist big battle, not realizing that this is just the start.  I started creative writing feeling confident, like i knew what I was doing.  After a few conferences I found that I was wrong, that I was just starting to see the tip of the iceberg that is story writing.  Through the year I've tried various styles and tricks that I feel have improved my writing.  Through these lessons I've crafted the piece that you can find under the senior year tab.  I feel that it's incorporated a few things that I've learned though the year.  As my years at Lake Forest High School come to a close I feel like the prologue to my writing adventure is about to close but the rest of the story is still unwritten.  This is the beginning of my writing adventure that I've embarked on, hopefully you will enjoy experiencing what I've experienced. Sincerely, Alex Wang.
